Over the past year many have been affected by the pandemic. I consider how many people lost their lives, lost their jobs and those who were wondering whether or not they could pay their bills each month. I wonder how many people were thinking about feeding their families and trying to figure out where the next meal will come from. I worry that the food banks in our area may actually run dry.
As the stimulus checks begin to go into our bank accounts, food now can be available without pinching pennies or visiting the food bank for the first time in several months. Small businesses that have been tremendously affected by the pandemic can get the support they need to keep moving forward. Teachers who are teaching concurrently, in the classroom and virtually no longer have to go deeper in debt to get the “extra tissues, markers and other supplies” so their students have what they need to be successful. The stimulus check can help support these efforts and more. We have to recognize that we are all in this situation together and Together We Can help each other along.

Consider giving back to someone in your community that you know has been struggling during the pandemic. Support your friends who own small businesses by spending $20+ to buy handmade goods or services. Donate extra tissues, hand sanitizer, and art supplies to a teacher for their classroom. Leave an extra tip when you get food from your favorite restaurant delivered to you just to help the delivery driver make ends meet. Pay for gasoline so your neighbor can get to work or give to a local charity.
The question you should be asking yourself is “How am I going to make a difference with the stimulus check money?”
